God of hope, joy, peace and love

God of the now and the not yet

We come today as people of faith. Help us to keep our lamps trimmed and burning in the now and not yet as we anticipate and remember how you came to us in our human form, how you have always been reaching out to us, how you continue to do so every day.

I confess my sadness, despair, and lost hope. I confess this as human reliance on myself and what I can only see in my yesterdays and today. I experience my times of struggle and joy as if they are everything and the only thing. I have trouble in the yet to be. I can get lost in the despair

I come to stand at the ocean, and recognize how small I really am, how vast and beyond my scope of awareness You are. Then I can become curious in how I can join You in that vastness instead of standing alone on the shoreline.

Enable me to make hope an actionable strategy, even when I can’t feel hopeful. Let me follow your example in Jesus to make love tangible even if my thoughts are full of uncertainty.

Because somewhere, somewhere, there can be certainty in You, with You, Emmanual, God with Us.
